Eco-Friendly (Green) Pest Control
You want to do your part to protect the environment, but you’re not the least bit interested in sharing your yard and home with pesky and potentially dangerous termites, ticks, mosquitoes, rodents, spiders, roaches, fire ants, bedbugs and other creepy, crawly denizens of planet Earth. So what are your options?
As a customer of Carolina Exterminating, you can opt for green, or natural, pest control. If that’s what you choose to do, we’ll treat your yard and home with natural materials that, generally speaking, are safer for your home, pets and plants. Green pest control costs more than using traditional pesticides, and it’s possible that it will take longer for you to see results.
If you opt for green pest control, you will need to play an active role in eliminating uninvited guests from your home and yard. For instance, you’ll need to make sure cracks and crevices are sealed so mice, rats, rodents and other critters seeking food and shelter won’t be able to crawl or fly into your home.
In addition, you’ll need to eliminate breeding grounds for mosquitoes by getting rid of as much standing water as possible. This includes draining potholes, repairing leaky pipes and faucets, cleaning gutters on a regular basis, changing the water in birdbaths at least once a week, covering trash containers to keep rainwater from accumulating and clearing weeds, dirt, leaves and other debris from pipes beneath driveways.
You can help eliminate rodents without harming the environment by stacking firewood several feet away from your home and at least a foot-and-a-half off the ground and by planting bushes, shrubs and large plants three feet or further from your home and other buildings, such as outdoor sheds.
Keeping your house clean is an excellent way to let roaches know they are not invited to hang out with you. Roaches love food residue, so you should wipe down your counters, make sure the stove top is clean and sweep the floor every night before you go to bed – and never leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight.
Before you decide whether to choose green or traditional pest control, one of our experienced technicians will meet with you to discuss the pros and cons of each option. Our goal is to keep your home and yard free of mosquitoes, rodents, roaches, fire ants, termites and other annoying and possibly perilous pests.
